Just returned from a short trip to Scotland ~ there are incredible amounts of snow above 700 metres, so the skiing and ski touring is fabulous. The strong winds have been a problem since the New Year, though we were lucky to do part of the Ballachulish Horseshoe and also a brief sojourn up Ben Nevis. Unfortunately, the climbing conditions aren't great at the moment as any ice that is present is well buried under the snow, and in the West Highlands there hasn't been the freeze - thaw cycles necessary for a good ice build up.
